The right charge point depends on your vehicle, parking position and electrical supply. Tethered units have an attached cable, while untethered units use a separate charging cable. Cable reach, where you normally park and how often you charge are useful details to discuss.

Smart chargers can offer scheduled charging and app controls. Features vary by model, and using an off-peak tariff depends on your electricity supplier and tariff rather than the charger alone.

A home charger adds a significant electrical load. The existing supply, earthing arrangements, consumer unit and cable route need assessment before a suitable installation can be agreed. Some properties may need additional work or coordination with the electricity network operator.

We consider a practical mounting position and a safe cable route. Send details of your parking space, the distance from your consumer unit and any charger you already have in mind when requesting a quote.

The agreed work covers the electrical installation and the relevant testing and documentation. Handover should also explain everyday operation and any smart controls available on the selected charger.

Charging speed is limited by the vehicle, charge point and available supply. A higher-rated charger does not automatically mean your car can charge at that rate. Grant eligibility and equipment requirements should be checked separately; NICEIC registration alone does not establish grant eligibility.
